There are innumerable Etruscan sites close to La Rombaia for you to visit: the necropolis in the woods at Vetulonia, and the archeological digs at Roselle, whose most important artefacts can be seen at the archeological museums of Grosseto and Vetulonia. Then there’s Sorano, with its beautiful fortifications and rich necropolis; Populonia, the only Etruscan town on the coast, with its spectacular castle.
Just a few kilometers away is one of the most famous spas in Tuscany, Saturnia, which combines centuries of history with exclusive pampering. The list of destinations around Castiglione della Pescaia is a truly long lone, and we shouldn’t forget Pitigliano, Sovana, Capalbio, the Giardino dei Tarocchi (Tarot Garden), Massa Marittima, the beautiful gulf of Baratti, the roofless abbey of San Galgano, the towers of San Gimignano, Siena with its Palio and Monteriggioni with its ring of perfectly preserved medieval walls. And of course, the Parco della Maremma, a natural oasis just waiting to be explored, and the islands of the Tuscan archipelago, sparkling gems set in the bluest of waters.
